Traveling (by land, sea or air) don’t always go according to your plan and expectations, that’s why it is a good idea to understand, reread and rechecked your travel insurance policy before you head off on your ultimate year-end vacation bonanza!

To help you out, here are some cases where-in your travel insurance can knock you out.

Not looking after your things

If your things are lost or stolen when it was left unattended, I’m sorry but it is not covered by the insurance policy. This may also include your wallet left in the cab, or your handy bag under a table out of reach or your huge luggage checked into the hold and was misplaced by the airline. Any valuable things you brought should keep in your hand luggage. Always remember that. The key thing here is that; stick your eyes on your things! And all will be good!

Being Reckless

If you need something to left behind, it is the attitude of being reckless. Travel insurance covers the unforeseen, unexpected and not the situations where you intentionally put yourself at risk. Take note of that! Accidents will have a lot of chance to happen when you are drunk. Injuries both physically and to other’s properties may happen when you are being reckless. And these things are not covered. Slow down things right now. Control your adrenalin.

Involved/Participated in death defying activities

Before doing the stunning activity, make sure that you are covered. High risk activities like sky diving, rock/mountain/cliff climbing, motor sports and combat sports are not always covered by the policy. Check before you do your amazing death defying cliff diving stunt!

Not enough proof or evidence to support your claim

Basic rule is that you have to present enough and authentic evidences to prove your ownership of that item. So it is recommended to keep receipts, photos and serial numbers of your high valuable stuffs. If you experienced theft, report it as soon as possible to the police and secure a copy of the police report. Same thing goes for travel delay expenses. Any money you spend and wish to claim back make sure you keep evidence. You may also need letters from airlines for cancelled flights, medical reports from doctors and proof of travel cancelation.

Not telling the truth

Make sure you are honest with your provider when taking out a policy r in claiming. For some instance, medical claims may be rejected if preexisting medical conditions were not declared at the first place. If you lie about your medical history and then become ill while due to this previous illness or ailment, then your insurer may deny your claim. Ouch! Just be honest on everything.

After knowing these things you are now on a better place. You have known what the scenarios are where your travel insurance will be idle or floating in the air. The key thing here is read that piece of paper!
